Last week I have been few days in Rome and it was much needed short but sweet holidays, spent walking the sunny streets of Rome where every little piazza, balcony, window and corner tells a story of the past times, laughing and forgetting about all the problems and difficulties and of course eating delicious Italian food!
More on all this in one of the next blog posts where I’ll share photos from my trip but let me just say for the moment that there is no better place to indulge than Italy! Just to mention some of the beautiful food I had, fresh tagliatelle pasta with truffles, spaghetti alle vongole (this pasta with clams is probably my favourite!), amazing antipasti (appetizers) with prosciutto, various cheeses, artichoke hearts, bruschette with fresh tomatoes & basil, olives, than the most wonderful desserts like Cannoli Siciliani (if you never had one, you have to give yourself a mission to do so!), lemon sorbets etc etc etc… All that accompanied by lovely Italian wine of course! I think you get the picture hahaha! My soul is happy now but my scale not so much! 😀
I will talk more about that soon but let’s go now to today’s post which is hmmm a little bit different that those things I just talked about.
So now that I got you all nice and hungry and dreaming about pasta dishes and creamy desserts, I’m giving you a fresh and healthy orange, carrot & lemon juice with a touch of ginger and turmeric! Please don’t hate me haha! 😀
To be honest, I was not really sure if I should post this as it’s so easy that we can’t really call it a recipe and I know already that chocolate gets you much more excited than fresh juice but hey, I keep talking about finding the right balance in life and I try to reflect that to my blog as well. I’m giving you chocolate and cookies but also smoothies and fruit, I’m sharing the exciting travels but also my daily struggles and I hope that’s ok with you! Life is not all good and not all bad, the same is with food, I believe we should eat well, provide our bodies with vitamins and nutrients but also occasionally we need to have that treat that will make our heart sing with joy.
Anyway, after those few days of indulging my body was craving lighter food and lots of fruit and vegetables. That’s also one thing that happens when you switch to healthier diet, you can have days and occasions when you will have that decadent meal or treat and you will enjoy but soon after that your body will ask for something healthier and we should always listen to what our bodies are telling us. We are not all the same and it’s important to find that balance that works for you, your body, your lifestyle, your needs. That’s why I don’t believe in labelling the way we eat and those concepts like “clean eating”! Like what is the opposite of that, “dirty eating”?!! Food should never be labeled like that, food is what gives us life, food gives us pleasure and it can also heal us and help us in so many things and conditions.
I hope I didn’t bore you with this speech but I am very passionate about this topic! 🙂
You can make this juice if you have a juicer obviously and if you don’t have one, than just eat these lovely fruit and veggies as they are and give your body a vitamin boost we all need these dark and cold winter days…
