Are you more for a chocolate or vanilla peanut butter smoothie? 😀
I know it’s been kind of slow here on Travelling oven but it’s because I’m still in Dubrovnik, shooting a lot but not creating many new recipes as I’m kind of enjoying my mum’s cooking at the moment. My mum always cooked healthy food, lots and lots of vegetables, beans and legumes, fish and seafood, homemade soups and stews, occasional meat dish. However, since I started eating better and healthier, healing my digestion system naturally with food, she joined me in this and her dishes became even more healthier but still full of flavour and delicious. That’s the best food if you ask me!
Of course we also make cakes and treats but instead of loads of butter, white all-purpose flour and refined sugar, now we use coconut or olive oil, spelt, rye or whole-wheat flour and coconut sugar or agave/maple syrup. Those are little changes that everybody can make to eat better and feel better…
In no way I’m trying to criticise anybody that uses those other ingredients as I used them all the time. Even now there will be an occasion like Christmas or Easter or something when I will make old-fashioned butter & sugar cookies or a decadent chocolate cake or buttery bread rolls. Also, I bring my little niece and nephew out for pancakes filled with chocolate and cherries and drizzled with some more chocolate. 😀
Everybody needs to find what works for them. For me is important that those pancakes or cakes are an occasional treat and not something I eat regularly. All I can say is that I am so so happy and grateful that I don’t have those terrible symptoms anymore and I feel so much better since I’m more careful about what I eat. So there is not reason why I would change that! Specially when you can still make things like these chocolate and vanilla peanut butter smoothies and enjoy them knowing that they are full of good ingredients! 🙂
Out of these two you can choose which one you like better or you can have both of them like I did! 😀 . One is creamy and refreshing vanilla peanut butter smoothie and other is very chocolaty and creamy chocolate peanut butter smoothie! Both very delicious so get your ingredients and go make them!
- For Chocolate peanut butter smoothie
- 1 frozen banana, previously sliced and frozen
- 1 cup milk of your choice (I used almond milk)
- 1 tbsp cacao
- 1 tbsp peanut butter (I used natural unprocessed peanut butter)
- ⅓ tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp agave syrup
- Note: 1 cup = 200 ml
- For Vanilla peanut butter smoothie
- 1 frozen banana, previously sliced and frozen
- 1 cup milk of your choice (I used almond milk)
- 1 tbsp peanut butter (I used natural unprocessed peanut butter)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp coconut cream or yogurt
- 1 tsp agave syrup
- Note: 1 cup = 200 ml
- For Chocolate peanut butter smoothie
- Put all the ingredients in blender and blend until smooth and creamy. This makes a very chocolaty smoothie (for all those dark chocolate lovers!) so if you want it a bit milder, just put less cacao.
- Serve immediately with sliced banana and cacao nibs. Enjoy!
- For Vanilla peanut butter smoothie
- Put all the ingredients in blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
- Serve with ice cubes for a more refreshing smoothie. Enjoy!
